This is my first blog post of many, I hope! My name is Carrie Whitehouse and I am a travel agent with Magical Moments Vacations. I am based in Frisco, TX with my husband, Dan, and two kids, Will and Maddie. Thankfully, they all share my love for travel and are willing to be my guinea pigs and marketing subjects. I have been a travel agent for over 12 years, and have grown and added more destinations over the years.
So many ask how and why I got into the travel industry, so here it goes...
Travel has always been in my blood, and that started with my parents. My dad was an airline pilot and my mom was a flight attendant, then my dad went back into the military and we lived in Alaska and California. During those years, they loved to take us on adventures! We went to the beach, Yellowstone, Las Vegas, Hawaii, among many other places. When my dad retired from the military and went back to being an airline pilot, we moved to Indiana and that is where I finished out both High School and College. Taking vacations from there to Mexico, Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, and many other cities within the United States.
During College, I decided to take part in the Disney College Program at Walt Disney World. I was given the role of Lifeguard, and worked at Blizzard Beach Water Park and The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Unpon my return back to college and Indiana, I met who is now my husband (Dan). After we both graduated and he completed his training program with his job, we got married and moved to Texas. It was not long before I realized many friends and family were asking for my expertise in travel. Shortly before our daughter was born, this business was born!
There have been challenges and hiccups along the way, but I have a goal each year to educate and learn something new! Obviously some years I went overboard on this, and then others where it just wasn't possible. They joy of hearing and seeing photos of all the memories being made makes all of the hard work and time I put into each and every vacation worth it. I enjoyed every memory I made with my family as a kid, and now as a parent myself.
Along with being a travel agent, I also am involved and keep myself busy with other things as well. I am the committee chair for my son's boy scout troop, foster for a local dog rescue, substitute teacher, and taxi mom to get my kids to their various activities/sports.
